The Forum event "From innovation to market success" 12-14 May, 2009
During 12-14 May, 2009, The Forum event, the First Market Place in Europe for inventions, applications and products for in vitro tests was held at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm.
At The Forum event 70 participants, representing researchers, end users, producers, regulators and patent agencies, from both Europe and USA, were met to discuss how to promote the commercial use of in vitro methods within the chemical and cosmetic industries, to achieve a more general use of alternative toxicity tests within the area of pharmaceutical testing, and how to increase the acceptance of in vitro methods by the authorities.
13 invited speakers gave very interesting speeches about their experiences and opinions from in vitro testing, innovative initiatives and technology transfer.
30 different models and innovations with a commercial potential for in vitro testing were presented by posters at the event. Of these, 17 models were also presented orally and got feedback from expert panels, consisting of invited speakers, on how to proceed from the research stage into a future product. Besides oral and poster presentations there was also a lot of meeting and market time in the programme.
The result from The Forum event is that it is very useful and successful to have this kind of meeting places for academic researchers, industry, manufacturers and regulators for in vitro tests focused on the technology transfer to the end users. There was also a broad wish from the participants that The Forum event could continue as a yearly event.
The Forum event was a joint event of the EU-projects Forinvitox and Invitopharma and organized by Silverdal Science Park, Stockholm, Sweden.
